Association of miR-146a rs2910164 and miR-27a rs895819 polymorphisms with type 2 diabetes susceptibility: A Meta-Analysis

Authors

Abstract:

Background and Aim: Several investigations have evaluated the association of miR-146a rs2910164 and miR-27a rs895819 single-nucleotide polymorphisms with susceptibility to type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, the findings are conflicting and inconclusive. Therefore, this meta-analysis performed to investigate the association between these polymorphisms and T2D risk. Methods: Studies were identified via a systematic search of the PubMed, Google scholar, Scopus and Sciencedirect databases up to June 2, 2019. A total of 2069 cases and 1947 controls for miR-146a rs2910164 and 1090 T2D and 966 non-diabetic subjects for miR-27a rs895819 were included in this meta-analysis by pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Our results indicated that there were no significant association between miR-146a rs2910164 and miR-27a rs895819 variants and the T2D risk (P>0.05). Conclusion: This meta-analysis showed that these polymorphisms were not significantly associated with T2D. Further studies with large sample size in more diverse geographically regions are needed to improve these findings.

Association of MiR-146a Expression and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Meta-Analysis

Although deregulation of miR-146a has been reported in type 2 diabetes repeatedly, the direction of deregulation events (up or down) remained to be inconsistent in literatures.  Therefore, in this study, we performed a meta-analysis on the possible association between miR-146a expression levels and type 2 diabetes. A systematic literature searching of PubMed, ISI Web of Science and Google ...

ASSOCIATION STUDY OF MIR-146A RS2910164 AND RS57095329 POLYMORPHISMS WITH RISK OF BEHCET’S DISEASE

Background & Aims: Behcet's disease (BD) is an autoimmune disease that usually occurs with oral, genital and ocular ulcers. The cause of this disease is unknown and environmental, genetic and immunological factors contribute to its development. In the present study, the relation between rs2910164 and rs57095329 polymorphisms of miR146a gene with the potential for BD was investigated in Iranian ...

Effects of Common Polymorphisms rs11614913 in miR-196a2 and rs2910164 in miR-146a on Cancer Susceptibility: A Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND MicroRNAs regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level and involved in diverse biological and pathological processes, including tumorigenesis. Rs11614913 in miR-196a2 and rs2910164 in miR-146a are shown to associate with increased/decreased cancer risk. We performed a meta-analysis to systematically summarize the possible association. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS We...

Affection of single-nucleotide polymorphisms in miR-27a, miR-124a, and miR-146a on susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus in Chinese Han people.

BACKGROUND Polymorphisms of microRNA (miRNA), as a novel mechanism, are closely associated with disease states by interfering with miRNA function. Direct correlations have been identified between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in miRNA, but the effect on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) onset among Chinese population remains unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify corre...

Association of miR-146a rs2910164 polymorphism with squamous cell carcinoma risk: a meta-analysis.

PURPOSE Recent evidence suggests that the rs2910164 variant of miR-146a is associated with the development of certain types of malignancies. Hence, the aim of this study was to investigate the association between this genetic variant and the susceptibility of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). METHODS We performed a systematic search using PubMed, EMBASE, ISI Web of Science, Cochrane Central Regi...

Association between three functional microRNA polymorphisms (miR-499 rs3746444, miR-196a rs11614913 and miR-146a rs2910164) and breast cancer risk: a meta-analysis

Three functional microRNA polymorphisms (miR-499 rs3746444 A > G, miR-196a rs11614913 C > T and miR-146a rs2910164 G > C) have been reported to be associated with breast cancer (BC) risk. However, the results of the published studies are inconsistent. In order to obtain a more credible result, we conducted this meta-analysis. We searched PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science databases to identify r...
